Events in Sugar Mountain

Winter is the reason the village exists as a resort. The resort says it tries to open by early or mid-November and stay open through the end of March, and that the ice rink generally runs from early November through March when the weather allows. Those are aims, not a promise. Check the resort before you book around a first chair.

The resort holds Oktoberfest on the second weekend in October and says admission, parking, and the shuttle are free. On July 4 it describes a fireworks show from the 5,300-foot summit, sponsored by the village tourism authority, starting around 9:15 p.m. Scenic summer lift rides are posted for Memorial Day weekend and from the July 4 weekend through September. Check the year you are actually traveling.
