Version 1

About Salt and Summit

Last updated October 15, 2026.

Salt and Summit is a static vacation guide to eight North Carolina towns, written like a friend who has driven the bridges and the switchbacks. On the coast, in Brunswick County: Sunset Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Holden Beach, and Oak Island. In the Blue Ridge: Beech Mountain, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk.

Version 1 prints geography, public beaches, public parks, and landmarks a town, a park, or the operator has published. Dog rules, trail lengths, and the lighthouse climb are in the pages. Ticket prices and this year's parade stay on the source that can change them. A made-up pier fee is not a favor.

Outside this edition

Caswell Beach is not one of the eight towns. The Oak Island Lighthouse is covered from the Oak Island pages because that's where visitors look, and the town line is stated in plain language. Bald Head Island, the New Hanover strand, Seven Devils, and the Town of Sugar Mountain don't have their own pages. Sugar Mountain Resort is described as being in Sugar Mountain, beside Banner Elk. The ZIP code can wait.

What the site does not do

It doesn't sell rooms or tickets. It doesn't run a booking engine. It doesn't take advertising payments. Sponsor rates are published so a future directory has a public price. No sponsor is on the site at launch. The newsletter and contact forms are previews. They don't send anything. Type away. Nothing leaves the browser.

Domain

The canonical address in this build is https://saltandsummitnc.com. A Verisign RDAP check on October 15, 2026 showed that name, and saltsummitguide.com, unregistered. That check is not a purchase and not a trademark search. Recheck both before you buy a domain, then change the site origin in the Astro config if you use a different one.
